Nerissa is a Toronto-based blogger, researcher, social media copywriter, and content creator who writes about life in Canada and Korean culture (music, drama, fashion, beauty, food, and language).
She has spent a decade as a senior professional in business research and management consulting while working in various industries ranging from pharmaceuticals, healthcare, med-tech, biotech, retail, IT, telecommunications, to banking/finance, education technology, and even construction equipment! During her decade-long career, Nerissa specialized in international market entry strategies and helped corporate and PE/VC executives stay up-to-date on market trends and competitor intelligence. She analyzed options for (organic/inorganic) growth, assisted with business development and marketing initiatives, and helped in successfully converting customer expectations to tangible products/services that translated to an increase in company revenues and an ever-growing customer/client base.
Her ‘claim to fame’ was one blog post from early 2018 that went viral on some large Facebook immigration groups as well as WhatsApp groups. The most notable outcome was that it presented her with the opportunity to pursue what she loves most by taking on the role of a Content Lead with Arrive, an RBC Venture. Nerissa is a rare success story of switching career paths while settling in a new country.
In her free time, Nerissa enjoys watching American, British, and Korean shows and listening to pop and R&B music. Some of her favourite sitcoms are: Game of Thrones, Prison Break, Greys Anatomy, Homeland, The Big Bang Theory, The Good Wife, The Crown, and Modern Family. She is a huge fan of Taylor Swift and k-pop boybands — BTS and EXO. Occasionally, when the stars align themselves, she loves travelling and exploring new places.
Nerissa is fluent in English, Hindi, Marathi, and has a basic understanding of Korean.
