Nerissa is a Toronto-based blogger, strategy consultant, and content marketer who writes about life in Canada and Korean culture.
She has spent a decade as a senior professional in business advisory services, helping large corporations across the world increase their profitability and develop new revenue streams. Some of the industries she has worked in are EdTech, Pharma & Healthcare, ITES, Financial Services, Telecom, and Retail.
Today, Nerissa weaves magic with content! In her day job, she’s passionate about telling research-based compelling stories and delivering engaging content that converts prospects to buyers and eventually, brand evangelists. Her ‘claim to fame’ was one blog post that went viral on some large Facebook and WhatsApp groups. The most notable outcome was that it presented her with the opportunity to convert her hobby into a full-time career by taking on the role of a content lead at RBC Ventures. Currently, she’s employed with Ascend Fundraising Solutions as a Senior Content Manager and also moonlights on a side-project for a soon-to-be-launched dating app called Kupenda.
Nerissa is a rare success story of switching career paths while settling in a new country. Her past experience in strategy consulting combined with the content skills and expertise from recent years uniquely positions her to support and deliver on key business objectives while planning, executing and driving growth initiatives.
Outside of work, you’ll find Nerissa cooking traditional family recipes, shopping for stocks, watching K-dramas and re-runs of classic sitcoms like Everybody Loves Raymond and F.R.I.E.N.D.S., listening to K-pop, or exploring Toronto neighbourhoods. She is a huge fan of Taylor Swift and k-pop boybands — BTS and EXO. Occasionally, when the stars align themselves, she loves travelling to foreign lands and exploring new places.
Nerissa is fluent in English, Hindi, Marathi, and has a basic understanding of Korean.
